DARKE HALL

Experience

the heart of regina

The College Avenue Campus originated as a Methodist College in 1912, over time becoming the first home of the University of Regina. Opened in 1929, Darke Hall – conceived as a ‘Temple to the Arts’ – has always been at the heart of Regina’s cultural scene. This historic venue hosted innumerable plays, events, concerts, and performances until it was closed in 2015 due to the complete deterioration of its infrastructure.

As part of a comprehensive renewal of the College Avenue Campus, Darke Hall has been rehabilitated and triumphantly returned to community use. The renewal project was founded on rigorous Conservation Plans and reviews, based on the Standards & Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada, and overseen by Luxton from inception to completion.
